Wrapped in Hope 2010 - A Quilt for Anthony

I made this quilt last year for a little guy named Anthony.  I am beyond obsessed with this Moda Sock Monkey fabric.  It is so cute.  The quilt pattern is a "Turning Twenty Again" pattern and the finished size is 48" x 48".

The peanuts {MoMo & RahRah}

I am *obsessed* with my dogs - I admit it openly.  They make me happy, which has been a challenge recently :)

MoMo, whose snobby pug name is "Cosmopolitian Hula Girl" is a 3 year old fawn pug.  I got Mo from a byb while I was living on Oahu, hence the Hula Girl reference. 

RahRah, whose snobby bulldog name is "Peppery Petite Syrah" is a 2 year old brindle french bulldog.  She came from a breeder in Howell, MI.... clearly this was before I became involved with the French Bulldog Rescue Network :)

Car Themed Quilt for Cooper Thomas

Cooper Thomas is a baby that belongs to a fun co-worker of mine.  He was born on November 29, 2010 and this quilt was actually a baby shower present {it is clearly obvious that I am WAY behind on updating my blog!} 

This quilt was a kit sold by Fat Quarter Shop - one of my absolute favorite online fabric stores.

The fabric is from the Wheels line by Riley Blake and the pattern is called Square Dance (finished size is 36" by 42").  I love this pattern for a quick baby quilt... you only need 8 fat quarters and 1 1/2 yards of fabric for the back.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

Margaret's Hope Chest - Wrapped in Hope {2011}

I found Margaret's Hope Chest last year and was utterly I-N-S-P-I-R-E-D.

As a very beginner quilter, large quilts are still a bit intimitating to me... so I like to focus on making quilts for little people - aka kids!  I am also quite intimated to make quilts for people that I know {are they just saying they like it, or do they *really* like it?!?} 

A quilt is a lot of work.... time, love and yes, sometimes even tears are poured into a quilt top (or in my most recent "on the verge of crying" quilting experience, the quilt back).

Back to the "Wrapped in Hope" 2011 program.  I excitedly selected 3 children to make quilts for in 2011.  The first birthday was in January, which was a smidge on the aggressive side for me, considering it was already November before I selected the kids.

This little girl was turning 10 and likes pink, blue, horses and girl scouts.  This is what I made for her :) 

This is the biggest quilt I have ever made - it ended up being 66" by 72" and the pattern is called "Perfect Ten" by Swirly Girl Designs.  It was long-armed by Rhonda Loy, who in my opinion is a creative genius :)

A close up of the awesome quilting... Rhonda selected a big daisy pattern and used a multicolor thread, which added very cute detail to the quilt.
