Quilt for United Way....

When I started quilting two and a half years ago, it was my goal to donate a quilt to my Company's United Way Silent Auction.  The auction quietly snuck up on me this year, but I managed to finish a quilt to donate.  I am so excited to see what the final bid is on it :)

This quilt was in my binding pile for over a year... sad.  I am finally becoming efficient at the hand binding process - it was the part of quilting that I disliked the most ==> not nearly as much fun as fabric shopping or cutting the top out!

Quilt Details - 39" x 48" finished; Birdie fabric line by Me & My Sister for Moda; Pattern = mini jelly filled by Camille Roskelly; quilting by Rhonda Loy - I LOVE the big flower pattern she selected(!).

What I'm Reading...

Another Borders Going Out of Business Purchase... and I cannot speak highly enough of this book!  I started reading it one night before going to sleep and before I knew it, it was 1:30 am {on a Sunday, no less}  Less than a week later and I only have 3 little chapters left to go... I simply don't want it to end.

Steven Kotler and his wife left life in LA to move to the middle of nowhere in New Mexico to start a dog rescue.  This book is amazing and completely expresses the emotional roller coaster experienced in dog rescue. 

{It is truly such a rewarding and yet heartbreaking experience.} 

What I'm Reading...

Sadly, all of the Borders book stores are going out of business.  I have been HOARDING books - buying hardcover books for $3.  Seriously, who can pass that up?  I am a book junkie - always have been.  I am positive there are hundreds of Sweet Valley High and Babysitter's Club books stashed away in my attic of my mom and dad's house.

This book was not my favorite.  Allison Pearson also wrote I Don't Know How She Does It, which my NCL America boss, Sandi, introduced me to.  It was a great book :)

My favorite part of this book was the transcript of her interview with David Cassidy that appears after the story is completed.  The interview made the book much more personal and interesting to me.  I thought the plot was a little predictable and I found myself wanting more of the story when the characters were adults instead of focusing on the childhood of Petra.
